I’m glad this is my first “year in review” post, because 2014 was a year of transformation. My photography business grew tremendously with weddings and I met some of the most amazing people throughout that experience. I was a teacher for 5 years and quit teaching in June. It sounds like it was a difficult decision for me, but really it was quite easy. I realized I wasn’t giving 100% to teaching or photography so a change had to happen. I don’t do something unless I’m in it 100%. I made the decision in February and started rebranding in March. My amazing brand was designed by the team at PostFilm Design. Though it was a very long process, it was definitely worth all of that and more. That same month I also hired my first assistant. Let me be clear, Mohamed, my boyfriend of 9 years, had been assisting me at every wedding since I started photographing weddings 4 years ago. I had an assistant who loved me and then he got busy with nursing school. Ha! It sounds crazy, but I never planned for him to assist me that long. I am, however, so so happy I found Margeaux. Oh, did I mention, I opened my own studio with 3 other wedding professionals??? It’s called Vintage Heights Studio and you can find out about it here. That means I officially added boudoir photography to my resume! My business grew up into an adult (ok young adult) in 2014 and I hope it continues. I am so thankful for the many incredible people that put their memories in my hands. What you will see in this post are some of my favorite moments from my journey through the year twenty-fourteen. They are not all portraits, but they are all memories.
