So wow… 2015 took me for a ride. It was my first year as a full time photographer. Sometimes the ride was smooth, like riding in a Mercedes Benz S Class, but most of the time it was more like riding in my previously owned 1989 Nissan 240sx drift car. Yes I have been a photographer for years now, however, this full time gig is something else entirely. I branched out from weddings and did lots of headshots for people in creative industries, some commercial and branding photography and started a boudoir brand Offbeat Boudoir with one of my best friends, Ashlee Hamon. I will refrain from sharing anything but weddings and engagements here, but look out for another post that includes the other types of photography. 2015 was a huge year and also marked the grand opening of my own studio! Vintage Heights Studio is a co-op formed with Ashlee Hamon (of Ashlee Hamon Photography), Gayle Zerr (of Florist Fire) and Becky Daly (of Tufted Vintage Rentals). With these powerful ladies we completed not one, but TWO styled weddings and one was published on Offbeat Bride. The other featured two same sex couples and is getting published this Spring and a surprise proposal! Ahhhh! Sneak peeks of that below. Having my own studio in Seminole Heights is honestly a dream come true and so is owning my own house there (which is happening in 2016!).
This post, however, is focused on my absolute favorite wedding moments of 2015. I chose at least one moment from every wedding I photographed. I put emphasis on the word moments because I believe that is the root of why I photograph weddings… capturing the real moments. Some people have told me recently that I must love my job because I am photographing people at their happiest. I am very passionate about photographing weddings and I love the emotional roller coaster everyone is on (including myself). It’s super exciting and the memories are invaluable. This career I’ve chosen is as fun as it is a serious responsibility that I am honored to have. Aside from that, I love all of my incredible couples and appreciate them more than they know. I also am so appreciative of the other amazing businesses that brought these weddings together! Since they go hand in hand, I am also sneaking in some of my favorite engagement session photos at the bottom. Please enjoy these amazing moments from my weddings of 2015! There are lots, so take your time.
